Acids gently dissolve superficial dead skin cells, enhance cell turnover, and help active ingredients absorb more deeply. A properly selected peel leaves the skin looking fresher, brighter, and more even.

Mandelic acid peel

Mandelic acid is an AHA acid derived from almonds and is an excellent choice for photoaging, acne, and hyperpigmentation. Compared with other AHAs, mandelic acid has a larger molecular size, which means it works more evenly and gently—while still being effective.

Mandelic acid also has antiseptic properties that help reduce inflammation and support balancing oily skin. This makes it a great option for problematic, acne-prone skin.

Lactic acid peel

Lactic acid is one of the oldest AHAs used in beauty—often even referred to as Cleopatra’s skincare secret. It is well suited for wrinkles, dryness, and photoaging, and helps stimulate the formation of collagen and elastin.

It is one of the gentlest AHAs and can be suitable for sensitive skin while still providing strong hydration. A good choice if you want a more even complexion and smoother texture without excessive irritation.

Salicylic acid peel

Salicylic acid is a BHA acid that is oil-soluble and cleanses pores deeply. Because of this, it is one of the best options for removing comedones and preventing new congestion.

In addition, salicylic acid can help reduce post-acne marks, hyperkeratosis, and improve overall texture and clarity. Ideal for acne, very oily skin, and enlarged pores.

Azelaic acid peel

Azelaic acid is a gentle but highly versatile acid, especially suitable for sensitive, acne-prone, and redness-prone skin. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help calm irritation, reduce comedones, and even out skin tone.

Azelaic acid helps inhibit overactive melanocytes, making it one of the most effective steps for hyperpigmentation and sun damage. At the same time, it is gentle enough for skin prone to rosacea or easily irritated.

As a result, the skin becomes more even, clearer, and calmer, with noticeably reduced redness.

TCA peel

A TCA peel is a medium to deeper-acting peel that delivers a very visible skin renewal effect. Trichloroacetic acid works in deeper layers of the dermis, intensively stimulating collagen production and skin regeneration.

This treatment is well suited if the goal is to improve skin texture, smooth fine and deeper wrinkles, even out pronounced hyperpigmentation, reduce acne scars, or refresh photo-damaged skin.

A TCA peel may cause visible peeling and a longer recovery period, but the results are significantly stronger and longer-lasting compared to lighter acids. After healing, the skin looks smoother, more even, and firmer.

Indications for a chemical peel

Acne and acne scars: A peel helps reduce breakouts and may also improve the appearance of acne scarring.

Signs of ageing: Reduced elasticity, wrinkles, and pigmentation spots may improve because the procedure stimulates collagen production.

Individual pigment spots (hyperpigmentation): For example, dark spots caused by sun damage.

Uneven texture and tone: A peel helps smooth the surface and improve overall radiance.

Insufficient skincare: If skin is often dry and dull, a peel can provide a refreshing boost.

Contraindications for a chemical peel

Very sensitive skin or irritation: If the skin is extremely sensitive or there has been a rash/irritation, peels should be avoided.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: The effects of chemical ingredients during pregnancy and breastfeeding are not fully studied, so it is recommended to avoid peels during these periods.

Herpes or other active skin infections: If there is an active infection or a herpes flare-up, a peel may irritate the area and worsen the condition.

Fresh scars or wounds: A peel should not be performed if there are fresh wounds, cuts, or burns.

Rosacea or other skin conditions: Certain conditions such as rosacea or eczema may be contraindications.

Chemical allergies: If you are allergic to any peel ingredient, the procedure should be avoided or a suitable alternative should be chosen.

Mature or very dry skin: With older or very dry skin there may be a higher risk of irritation or even damage.

After a chemical peel

Use a gentle cleanser and wash your face with lukewarm (not hot!) water. If irritation occurs, you can apply a cold compress.

Hydrate intensely — use hydrating and soothing creams or serums: hyaluronic acid, panthenol, aloe vera.

Sun protection is mandatory. Use broad-spectrum SPF50+. Apply daily, even on cloudy days, and avoid direct sun completely for 24–72 hours. Reapply every 2–3 hours if you are outdoors.

The skin may peel — do not pick! Mild flaking or tightness is normal. Do not forcefully remove peeling skin, as this can cause pigmentation or scarring.

Do not use for 5–7 days after a peel

Retinol, other acids (AHA/BHA, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, mandelic acid, etc.), strong serums (vitamin C)

Sauna/steam room, hot showers

Facial brushes and exfoliating products

Heavy makeup — ideally avoid during the first few days

["post-20595","teenused","type-teenused","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
